78violet

78violet (previously known as Aly & AJ ) are a pop/rock duo consisting of sisters Alyson Renae “Aly” Michalka and Amanda Joy “AJ” Michalka. They were born in Torrance, California, but spent part of their childhood in Seattle, Washington. They are both actresses, singer-songwriters, guitarists and pianists. They are expecting to release a new album with a more mature sound. The world premier of 78violet took place on the August 16th, 2009 episode of Loveline. In late February 2010, a newsletter went out to members of their official Aly & AJ site stating that Aly & AJ had left Hollywood Records and are wishing the pursue 78violet without any limitations. The two had stated that the album that they recorded for Hollywood Records would not be released due to this [leaving Hollywood Records] and that it seemed as if it would never be released whilst they were still with Hollwood Records (due to the release date being pushed back on several occasions). They are currently writing for their new album and are still currently unsigned. It is unknown to whether they wish to sign to a new record deal company or are choosing to release their new album independently. The release date has not yet been estimated but realistically, the new album should be released later this year or earlier next year.
