Across the Sun Biography
Across The Sun invaded the Northwest’s local music scene in early 2004 but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2007 that the band solidified their most successful and unified line-up to date. While possessing influences varying from Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, and Soilwork, this Portland, Oregon quintet embraces their own creative vision in an often "carbon-copy" genre. Across The Sun has acquired and maintained an overwhelmingly large fan base due to their unrelenting schedule, as well as shared the stage with such national acts as; 36 Crazyfists, Darkest Hour, The Acacia Strain, At All Cost, Dead to Fall, The Classic Struggle, Losa, Himsa and A Life Once Lost. The band has also been featured in Crave Magazine and gotten radio play on Portland’s largest hard rock station, KUFO. This self-proclaimed "hardest working metal band in Portland" released their five-track EP This War in early 2007 and spent part of their summer at Interlace Audio recording with esteemed engineer Kris Crummett (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Dance Gavin Dance.) The new release is titled Storms Weathered and was released that Winter. The band plans many extensive West Coast tours. With what is considered to be their healthiest line-up yet, they continue performing successful live shows and writing original, raw music that is both melodic and brutal. And now with new guitarist Sam Hafer, they have written new material and will be headed to the studio again. They will be featured on the Atticus IV compilation album, which will be available in early April at all Hot Topic stores. During Tomfest 2009, in Washington, Across the Sun had the honor of following As I Lay Dying, which in turn led to Tim Lambesis, lead singer for As I Lay Dying, mix their new EP. And in mid 2009, they were signed by a new label called Authentik-ink (http://authentikartists.com/authentik-ink/), they are the first metal band to be signed by them, and kept it a well hidden secret until the new EP Pestilence & Rapture came out. Hit up iTunes for the new EP and help them pay back some debt to their label. Which in turn brought a music video as well for Angelic Deception. Now ATS is gearing up for a full on US tour. Check their myspace for 2009/2010 tour dates to see if they are coming near you.
