Alan Andrews Biography
Alan Andrews was part of the downtown Manhattan music scene of the mid-1990s. Embracing the "anti-folk" movement that originated during this time, Alan mixed an eclectic brew of influences, from Leonard Cohen, to Tom Waits, to Steve Earle. He recorded two albums, "Alan Andrews" in 1996 and "Cleaned and Pressed" in 1999. Alan was a favorite of WFUV's Meg Griffin and Rita Houston. Vin Scelsa regularly played him on his "Idiot's Delight" program on WNEW. Some of the clubs he played were The Bottom Line, The Sidewalk Cafe, Arlene's Grocery, The Mercury Lounge, The Fez, and The Living Room. Alan also toured to The Iron Horse in Northampton, Mass, The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, The Hotel Utah in San Fran, and The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. On March 2, 2007 Alan was killed in an automobile accident along with his fiancee Ruth. For more info, see his website at www.alanandrews.com .
