Antikid

AntiKid was formed in November 2005. Having developed a powerful, metal driven baseline clouded with unique and techinical acoustics, they began tearing up venues across the UK. As well as a unique sound, AntiKid offer a rare element to their genre, 4-vocalists. 4-way vocal harmonies are a bonus to an already promising declaration from the band. Trying to make a breakthrough on the new music scene, are young emo rockers Antikid, here with their debut double A-side single for Faultlines and Discard The Excess. Hailing from South-East London are the quad-vocalist band, which for a start gives them added advantage of perfect vocal harmonies and depth. These guys know what they want, want it fast and with this single they're certainly running the right way. Faultlines, the first track on the single could be classed by critics as a typical emo pop rock song. But for me, this is far from typical. It has powerful vocals which, certainly in the chorus, gives it the 'candy shop' style sing along that is to die for in a song like this. The lyrics are meaningful and fit together wonderfully. The powerful drumming gives Faultlines a heavier edge which smashes it through the border between pop and rock which helps produce a very, very good rock song. (8/10) The intro to track two, Discard The Excess is impressive. An upbeat and technical drum solo, leading into a heavy guitar riff, starts this song off strongly. Antikid start as they mean to go on as the intro leads into a ballad style opening verse, which in turn leads up into a beautifully crafted and catchy chorus. Again: great lyrics; great guitar; great drumming and all together making a sweet sounding song. This song almost hits the 6 minute mark and in all fairness, is still too short. DtE feels like a journey. It's perfectly structured and sounds immense throughout. The intro sounds epic, the ending sounds just as epic and everything in between is just sheer quality. (9/10) This band most definitely deserves to be further than where they are currently and hopefully this is the single that will do it for them.
