Ballyhoo! Biography
Ballyhoo! comes full force with their blend of Reggae/Rock grooves. Their first full-length album, ’365-Day Weekend’, released in October 2000 on their own label Hooligan! Records, has sold thousands of copies, receiving rave-reviews from fans and critics alike. In 2001, Ballyhoo! opened the HFStival, an annual stadium event with 60,000 people in attendance in Washington D.C. Also on the bill that year were national acts such as Green Day, Staind, Incubus, and Sum 41. HFS let them do the festival 2 more times after that. In 2004, Ballyhoo!'s song "Longshot" was chosen for a compilation CD by 98 ROCK Baltimore called, "Noise in the Basement". There were about 20,000 copies pressed and distributed throughout the Baltimore/Washington area. The song also held strong in the top 5 Rock category at Garageband.com for over a year. Y100 FM in Philadelphia nominated the band for “Best Unsigned of 2004” in their end of the year poll. Ballyhoo! will have their music included on a compilation by Philadelphia's WMMR Rock Station this Fall, a Reggae compilation Cd by Represent Music, and their cover of Sublime's "40. Oz To Freedom" released on a Sublime Tribute album in January 2006 by Baseline Music. Other Tour Highlights include dates with the Beastie Boys, Hoobastank, The Used, The Start, and a showcase at Toronto's annual North By Northeast Music Conference. Ballyhoo! is currently receiving airplay on several Mid-Atlantic commercial radio stations. Their new album "Do It For The Money!" has had a big success so far.
