Celica Westbrook Biography
Newcomer recording artist/actress Celica Westbrook is emerging onto the pop music scene with a voice that is as powerful as it is heavenly; a name that means just that: celestial or heavenly. At first glance, one might mistake Celica as a typical fun-loving 14 year old girl. But once you experience her vocal prowess, it is undeniably clear that her gift is far from typical. Her ability to articulate complex melodies effortlessly with such soul and conviction at such an early age immediately draws comparisons to artists like Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera. “It’s is not a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when’ for Celica” says Keith Thomas, her Grammy Award-winning producer and manager. “We look forward to seeing where her blossoming career takes her.” Keith first took notice of Celica when she was 11 after hearing her vocal performance of “Shades of Rain,” a song produced by up and coming Nashville producer Jonathan Crone of Levosia Entertainment, and featured in a local film in which Celica also acted. The old adage, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” is certainly applicable here. Celica hails from a long line of “musical family”. In fact, the song New Moon is a collaborative effort of both parents and skillful songwriters, Steve and Amy Westbrook. Celica started singing with her family (older brother, younger sister, mom and dad) as a tiny girl in churches, schools community centers, and sporting events. With Celica singing lead at age 9, her family won a local radio contest in Erie, PA (her original hometown) to perform the National Anthem in 5-part harmony at a touring Globe Trotter’s game. Lately, Celica has been working hard in the studio on her new songs that chronicle the life experiences of a teenager, but also speak to issues young girls face today. Her first offering, “New Moon,” is a haunting love song inspired by the Twilight series and can be found on iTunes. Already the song alone has garnered an impressive number of YouTube views and rave reviews. Her first official single “Just Who I Am” is a signature song that establishes her youthful musical style and direction and will serve as her entrée into pop music. Celica is credited with appearances in the Hannah Montana Movie, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley’s “Start a Band” music video (along with her little sister), Craig Morgan’s “Tough” music video (along with her sister, brother and mom), as a semi-finalist with her mom on CMT’s Can You Duet and in a number of other small films and TV commercials. She will also be a featured artist on the world’s first ever musical holographic 3D player in 2010. Celica has also sung the anthem at the Nashville Sounds and her school sporting events, performed in her school talent shows and held the lead in her school play last year. As an eighth grader, she is a straight A student, co-captain of her football cheer squad and is on student council—evidence that she is poised and ready for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
