Chasing Corona Biography
"Regrets to inform everyone that Cole has decided to part with the band. We have no information on a future for Chasing Corona." - taken from their facebook Taking their name from a comment made after several failed attempts to catch the lead singer’s boxer puppy named Corona, the band has quickly made a name for themselves here in the Hampton area. After winning the MAX-FM Battle of The Bands in December of 2006, the band went into the studio and recorded a 6 song EP. The single “Sand to Stone” was released and became a hit on the local airwaves. The song received enough call-in requests that the radio station placed the song into regular rotation. In addition, Chasing Corona was featured in The Virginia Pilot in April 2007 and the Link Magazine/The Virginian Pilot in October 2007. The band has also participated in New York City's celebration of Fleet Week as an opening act for George Clinton at Webster Hall. The lead singer, Cole Childers, and the lead guitarist, Brian Farley, met in 2005 while deployed overseas in Aqaba, Jordan during a night of "Battle of the Ship's Bands". The next morning the 2 ships, USS Kearsarge (Brian's ship) and the USS Ashland (Cole's ship) came under a terrorist attack.
