Clark Sisters Biography
This name refers to at least two different artists. The Clark Sisters are an American gospel vocal group consisting of four sisters: Elbernita "Twinkie" Clark, Jacky Clark Chisholm, Dorinda Clark Cole, and Karen Clark Sheard. A fifth member, Denise Clark Bradford, no longer performs with the group. The Clark Sisters are the daughters of gospel musician and choral director Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. They are credited for helping to bring gospel music to the mainstream and are considered as pioneers of contemporary gospel. Another "Clark Sisters" are an American Singing Group consisting of 4 sisters (Ann, Jean, Peggy and Mary) are formerly known as the "Sentimentalists," they sang with Tommy Dorsey and had several chart hits. They left the band in 1946, retired in 1948, but came back in late 50's and early 60's to make three LPs ("Sing, Sing, Sing","Swing Again","A Salute To The Great Singing Groups")
