Clarkson Go Biography
Started in early 2002 by Johnny and Barber, at the tender age of eleven. Shortly after, Mike transferred to the area and joined the band on drums. The the time they jammed in the basement until their close friend Russ purchased a bass, and joined the band. Between 2002 and 2004, they performed under the name Subsidal, and just played covers, until May 2004 when the four fourteen year old guys recorded their first demo under the new name The Sell Outs, which went on to be named Beware of Vocals. It consisted of five original songs, all of which have since been retired. In January 2005 they recorded a second demo, simply called The Sell Outs, and it consisted of ten original songs (three of which were on Beware of Vocals), recorded live off the floor. They also began playing clubs in the GTA, earning a small name for themselves. Then in August of 2005, they started work on a better sounding EP, consisting of three songs. It was mixed and mastered in September 2005, and was released as A New Agenda EP. The beginning of 2006 brought them back into the studio to record a new (longer) EP. It consisted of eight original songs (including remixed versions of the three songs from A New Agenda). It had the song original song Restricted Youth on it as well, the only song from this time period that the band still plays regularly to this date. It was entitled The System Is Yours and was also mixed and mastered at Urban Post Productions from February - April 2006. The four of them continued playing shows in the Toronto area with bands like illScarlett occaisionally until May 2007, when they recorded a three song demo called The Jiguano / Breathe in DeEP, and shortly after decided to change their band name to Brave New Sound, feeling that the name The Sell Outs didn't reflect the current direction they were moving in, and didn't accurately represent the sound they were producing. Not too much time later, they realized Brave New Sound sounded too pretentious and decided to come up with a name that had some sort of meaning to them. After another month or so of bantering on names, they decided to name themselves after the area in which they'd all met in Mississauga, called Clarkson. The "go" was added as a reference to the local train station where they and many others get on to go to shows in Toronto. Most recently, the band spent four months recording the four song Timed Solutions EP at MatchVox studios from May to August, 2008. It consists of their songs See You in Hell!, title track Timed Solutions, Still Spins, and The Executioner. They are currently spending time writing new material. Over the summer they will be recording a new demo, consisting of three songs. Clarkson Go is: Johnny "Blaze" Lima - Guitar / Vocals Mike "Electro" Chantaj - Drums Russ "RJ" Hall - Bass Barbieros - Guitar / Vocals
