Darin Zanyar

Darin Zanyar (born June 2, 1987) is a pop singer from Sweden. Zanyar participated in the Swedish Idol 2004, acquiring a fanbase primarily of teenage girls, but lost in the final to competitor Daniel Lindström. Zanyar released his first album in February 2005, with songs by Swedish hit maker Max Martin and Swedish artist Robyn. Darin lives in Vällingby outside of Stockholm. He is from Kurdish background, and he speaks Central Kurdish (Sorani) and fluent English. He won the Kurd of the year award in 2005 presented by Swedish Minister for Public Health and Social Services Morgan Johansson. He prefers to sing in English, picking popular tunes from recent times as his performances.
