Doumoto Kouichi Biography
Koichi Domoto (born January 1, 1979 in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture) is a famous artist in Japan. He joined Johnny & Associates, an talent agency well-known for producing famous boy-band music groups such as SMAP, TOKIO and SHOUNENTAI, at the age of 12, after his sister sent his profile to Johnny's Agency. He, together with Tsuyoshi Domoto formed the group temporarily called Kansai Boya in 1993, and debuted officially as Kinki Kids in 1997 with their best-selling single Garasu no Shonen, or The Glass Boy. Though the two of them share a last name, they are not related. Another coincidence is that both of them come from an area in Japan called Kinki, the true inspiration for the name despite the double meaning to the English ear. Koichi is nicknamed the 'Prince' by his fans, due to his perceived gentle nature and natural elegance. He is especially well-known now in Japan having performed for three consecutive years in the musical, SHOCK. Koichi held his first solo tour from March to May 2004. His bloodtype is B. He loves cats, but claims that he cannot keep one because of allergies. Koichi's other hobbies include cars, horseback riding and dance. It has been said that he is one of the best dancers from Johnny's Agency, which causes him to aspire to do more musicals in the future.
