Eria Fachin Biography
Eria Fachin (20 April 1960 - 5 September 1996) was from Canada, born in Hamilton. Her career started with a promising album, "My Name Is Eria Fachin." The album mixes peppy, energetic hi-NRG grooves with sullen, jazzy ballads, and is a prime example of the late 1980's pop/dance scene. Her gutsy, sometimes slightly raspy tone, and her subtle jazz phrasing on certain tracks sets her apart from many other divas in the genre. The album spawned three 12" singles. "Eria's Aria/I Hear Symphony," "Savin' Myself" and "Your Love Just Came Too Late." All three saw good U.S. chart action but actually did much better in her native Canada. "Savin' Myself" was a big club hit in the UK and across Europe, staying at Number 1 in the "Eurobeat" chart for almost all of 1988. Before a second album could be recorded Eria was diagnosed with cancer, effectively ending her career before it really started.
