Galapaghost Biography
Galapaghost is the conception of singer/songwriter/one man arsenal Casey Chandler. He is a recent graduate of SUNY Purchase, which he attended from 2005-2009 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music production. He hails from the small hippie town of Woodstock, NY where he took his first baby steps towards becoming the musician he has blossomed into today. With no training on any instruments other than saxophone, he quickly picked up the bass when he was 14. Then moved onto guitar a year later and began singing and writing songs. Soon after, he developed a passion for the recording and production aspect of things, thus taking an internship in high school at a recording studio. After the internship, he had discovered his passion and was accepted into the Music Production program at SUNY Purchase. After living in New York City for 6 months in 2009, he decided to move out to Austin, TX in the summer of 2010. He released his first EP in early December 2009, entitled Our Lost Generation, which is comprised of 6 tracks he wrote, recorded, played everything on and mixed by himself. His 2nd release entitled Neptunes was released in February 2010, which is comprised of another 6 songs all written, recorded, and mixed by himself. He released his 3rd and final EP entitled Runnin’ EP in November of 2010, while on break from touring with John Grant. It is comprised of yet another seven songs that he recorded all on his own. His song writing is predominantly, but not limited to indie folk based music, with a focus on ukulele for many of his songs. His song writing pulls from many different influences from Midlake to Simon & Garfunkel to Neil Young to Radiohead. He has recently just finished a European/North American tour with John Grant in 2010, which included a prestigious slot on Later…With Jools Holland.
