He received his early education in Canada.And forwarded his study in New Zealand when he is 16. He worked hard to get his music recognized and even got rejected on the way because music producers and companies thought his music quality was not good enough and some even commented on the way he looks and said that his looks wouldn't make him successful. It is learnt that he struggled a lot like many other famous singers before becoming popular with his mandarin version of "Superwoman" by Media:Karyn White. Cao wrote some chart toppers songs in Taiwan sung by S.H.E, Cyndi Wang, and Aaron Kwok.
