Gary Nock Biography
Brought up in Dawlish, Devon, Gary started out touring the local pubs playing covers before finally deciding to export his very own brand of confessional, Ryan Adams/Tracy Chapman- influenced contemporary folk to Birmingham, London and Bristol where he is currently gigging extensively and picking up a loyal following from across the board. With an emotive combination of effortless song writing and an elegiac voice that drifts between breathy falsetto and soaring builds, there are elements reminiscent of an early Chris Martin, had he too been inspired by the windy pebbled shoreline of the southwest. A shy but charismatic, ever-present performer means live shows never fail to be thoroughly engaging. Gary played to a packed out Bush Hall, London, in January and after only 3 months on the circuit has shared the stage with Champion’s recent signing, James Carrington, Shady Bard at the Glee club (Birmingham), Sanctuary/Headwrecker’s Chris Tye and Kamila Thompson (sister of Teddy). Future confirmed bookings include The Bedford, The Borderline, The Betsey Trotwood, 12 Bar Club (London), and South West Sound ‘Bristol Fringe’ showcase, sponsored by Music Week. Gary continues to play Birmingham and Bristol regularly. Gary is set to appear on NRJ Radio (France) live sessions in September. Gary has no label backing at present and there are no forthcoming releases. Demos can be previewed and downloaded from www.myspace.com/garynock
