Guardians Of Time Biography
Sometime in 1997 a handful of bored Norwegian metalheads were drinking beer at the local pub. Someone around the table came up with the idea to form a band. They were all playing an instrument and hade the same musical preferences, so why not? What started out as bored musicians killing time, soon developed to something a lot more serious during the next 2 years. And somehow during this time they stumbled upon something great; their own sound! By the end of 1999 they felt their songs were strong enough for a professional level, and in January 2000 they recorded their first demo, entitled "Soul Reaper", containing three songs. (Torn Apart, As the Morning Rise and Soul Reaper) The demo received very good reviews from both record labels and magazines. The demo caught the attention of the German Axel Thubeuville of Shark Records who signed the band, and the debut album "Edge of Tomorrow" was recorded in Dub Studio, Kristiansand, and released August 25th 2001. Produced by Endre Kirkesola and Guardians of Time. The album was released through Shark Records in Europe, Spiritual Beast in Asia and The End Records in USA. The band received great reviews for the album. Lots of interviews were done and the band made loyal fans all over the world. Both a Brazilian- and a German-fan site were made by devoted fans. The band did shows all over Norway and played almost every metal festival in the country, including the Quart Festival club scene ‘01 and '03, Southern Discomfort, 1001 Watt and Elements of Metal. The second album “Machines of Mental Design” was recorded during August - September 2003.The album was once again produced by Endre Kirkesola in Dub-Studio, Kristiansand, Norway. This time the album was released through Massacre Records in Europe, Spiritual Beast in Asia, The End Records in USA and FaceFront Records in Scandinavia. “Machines of Mental Design” received great reviews all over the world. The music was by many labeled as “thinking man’s metal” and were often compared to the epic masterpiece “Operation Mindcrime” for its well thought composition and lyrics. Guardians of Time joined the 2004 “Scream Tour” playing all over Norway, and pivoted by playing at Norway’s biggest festival, the “Quart Festival” during the summer of 2004, opening for Slipknot on the main stage. This was the best show the band had ever done, proving that Guardians of Time had indeed become a great live act. During 2004 Rune and Vidar quit, leaving the band in limbo. Bernt and Paul were the only members that would still be involved in music the next years, and though other bands were joined and formed, the legacy of the Guardians could not be forgotten, and an urge to continue this legacy were ever present. Finally the time has come; The Guardians of Time have risen once again! The year is 2009, and a new line-up is being shaped. The main songwriters of the band, Bernt Fjellestad and Paul Olsen have teamed up with guitarist Bent Lindebø and drummer Øivind Vågane to bring the band back to life, and to take it to new heights! New material is created as we speak, and 7 songs for the new album have already been written. This will be the greatest album in the bands history, rock solid songs and musicians that are more determined and more experienced than ever before! Watch us arise now; the Guardians of Time!
