Gustavo Cerati Biography
Gustavo Adrián Cerati Clark (born in Buenos Aires on August 11, 1959) is an Argentinian artist and songwriter. During the 1980s and 90s he was a member of the Rock en Español group Soda Stereo. He released his first solo album in the early 90s, and continued his solo career after Soda Stereo disbanded in 1997. In 1993, while still part of Soda Stereo, he recorded Amor Amarillo with the collaboration of bandmate Zeta Bosio and then-wife Cecilia Amenabar. The album featured more introspective lyrics, a fair amount of electronic experimentation and was well received by both the critics and the public. After 1997, when Soda Stereo split up, Cerati embarked in a couple of projects dealing exclusively with electronic music. He formed the group Plan V together with Chilean musicians Andrés Bucci, Guillermo Ugarte and Christian Powditch, and the duo Ocio together with Flavio Etcheto. He released his second solo album Bocanada in 1999. This album is seen by most of his fans as his masterpiece. In it he fused the Rock music style that made Soda Stereo famous with a newer electronic style he developed in his most recent projects. In 2001 he wrote the soundtrack for the movie + Bien directed by Eduardo Capilla, in which he also stars, marking his acting debut. Another soundtrack he produced was for the movie "Solo Por Hoy". That same year he recorded 11 Episodios Sinfónicos, a live recording of a symphonic orchestra playing Cerati´s most popular songs, orchestrated by Alejandro Teran. Siempre Es Hoy marked the third non-instrumental album of his solo career in 2002, showcasing a new perspective of his music and sound. Reversiones/Siempre Es Hoy was released a year later in 2003, compiling remixes from the album "Siempre es hoy" performed by several artist of the electronica movement around the world. His latest album Ahi Vamos (2006) was considered a return to his more classic style as it contains heavier rock sounds. In 2007 he toured with his old band Soda Stereo on a reunion tour, where they performed in several Latin American countries and the United States. Cerati has also produced albums for other artists, most notably Sueños en Transito for Nicole and Mar for Leo Garcia. Also, he is a contributing artist on several albums for artists such as Caifanes, Los Calzones, Shakira, etc Cerati is also widely praised for his lead and rhythm guitar talents and also his ability to play lead solos on guitar while singing perfectly in key. His newest album, still untitled, is to be released sometime between June and July of 2009. ---------------------------------------------------- Update on the discography: Solo Albums * Amor Amarillo (1993) * Bocanada (1999) * Siempre es Hoy (2002) * Ahí Vamos (2006) * Fuerza Natural (2009) Cerati/Melero *Colores Santos (1992) Other * Sólo Por Hoy (Soundtrack) (2000) * + Bien (Soundtrack) (2001) * 11 Episodios Sinfónicos (2001) * Reversiones/Siempre es Hoy (2003) * Canciones Elegidas 93-04 (DVD compilation) (2004) Plan V * Plan V (1996) * Plan V/Black Dog (1998) Ocio * Medida Universal (1999) * Insular (2000) Source: Wikipedia®
