Halie Loren Biography
Halie Loren is a singer/songwriter who gets in your head, plunges you into darkly effervescent musical waters and pulls you on a journey through the emotional gauntlet with her dipped-in-molasses sound of jazz-infused, intelligent pop/rock. Loren has been blowing away listeners for years with both her voice and her writing abilities, all the while expanding her growing fan base and carving out a unique musical niche with her jazz-infused breed of intelligent piano-rock. She writes with a passion that’s carried along by her unfaltering, dynamic vocals and piano-driven melodies that flow forth like a river out of control with unyielding emotion. This singer/songwriter has too many facets and layers to simply plug into a cookie-cutter genre and label as alternative or pop or jazz. Instead, you’ll find her music taking you down some unexpected paths, belying the short 22 years she’s lived thus far. Growing up on an island in Southeast Alaska, much of Halie’s diverse music exposure came early-on from listening to everything public radio had to offer. She was quickly discovered by Northwest music communities and touted as a rare vocal talent, with music opportunities immediately coming her way. By age 14, she had begun to write her own award-winning music and performing both solo as well as fronting full bands. Today as she enters her senior year of college, Halie is performing and promoting ‘Full Circle’, her first solo CD release of her original material as she continues writing, recording and collaborating on various projects with other music professionals around the country. ‘FULL CIRCLE’ - ABOUT THE ALBUM The full scope and sharp lyrics of the songs on ‘Full Circle’ move you from the CD’s first track, ‘Maybe I’ll Fly,’ that portrays the triumph felt as emotional freedom is realized, to the final track, ‘Lucky’, which reminds the listener that “…lucky is a state of mind.” Halie accompanies herself with piano on all 12 tracks, including 11 self-penned originals and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘River’. The album was co-produced and engineered with James M. House, a multi-talented Northwest producer and musician who also adds bass and guitar backup to several of the songs on the album. Other musicians playing on the project were Chris Ward (electric & acoustic guitar and bass), Brian West (drums), Paul Biondi (saxophones) and Dale Bradley (cello).
