Heavy Weight Champ Biography
Melodic hard rock band from Perth, Western Australia. After spear heading West Australian heavy music for the last few years Heavy Weight Champ have grown considerably in stature and ability in the last few years, quickly becoming solidified within the current resurgence of Australian heavy music. They began with the appropriately-titled EP 'Two Triple Zero' in 2000. It spent over a year in the Australian Indie Record charts top twenty, and saw extensive rotation on multiple local radio networks including Triple J. Grey Filters, their second EP, saw release in 2003. It consisted of two brand new tracks, as well as two live tracks and the un-edited versions of the brand new songs. It was nominated for best single in the 2003 West Australian Music Industry Awards. Their debut album, Lo-Fi Funeral, was released in 2006 through Sic2 Records. Four years in the making, the first pressing sold out in three days.
