In Hearts Wake

IN HEARTS WAKE are a Metalcore band that began in Febuary of 2006. IHW are comprised of 5 great friends (all 18, all born in 1990) that originate from Byron Bay Australia. Most of IHW’s band members have grown up and played music together from as young as 11 years old, but don’t let their ‘young’ age fool you. IHW combine a diverse range of musical elements and techniques to create their own passionate sound. Although most non-metal listeners may classify their music as ‘heavy’, they write their music and lyrics about what they believe in. IHW’s lyrics are comprised of everyday world issues (most that need urgent attending too) such as: peace, identity, relationships, love, solitude, depression, politics, global responsibility, personal experiences and ultimately the possibility of a better world. In July 2006 IHW recorded their first demo track ‘True Love Is Hard To Find’ (mastered by Randolf Reimann the lead vocalist of the legendary hardcore band ‘MASSAPPEAL’). In December of 2006 (when IHW were all aged 16) they recorded their debut 7-track EP, titled ‘Into The Storm.’ In early 2007 IHW welcomed a new drummer ‘Caleb Burton’ into their metal-unit and began to refine their sound, writing faster, technical, heavier and more melodic songs. In July 2007 they embarked on a tour that covered 3 Australian states and 3 major cities. IHW have since received a fantastic response, and have cultivated a strong loyal fan base on the east coast of Australia. Such a response gained the attention of ‘James Lyall’, a Scottish engineer at ‘SAE College HQ‘ who is now their producer and engineer. In December 2007 IHW began their 5 month studio recording schedule at the multi million dollar ‘SAE Headquarters Byron Bay’ to produce their follow up EP. In January 2008, IHW hit the road with ‘Hiroshima Will Burn’ (Vic) on a tour that hit the likes of Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. IHW have played with many major Australian bands such as: The Amity Affliction, The Red shore, Mourning Tide, The Jonestown Syndicate, Antagonist (NZ), Abandon All Hope, The Abandonment, Picture The End, The Daylight Curse, xTheWarx, Dropsaw, Bad Blood, Jack Napier, House Vs Hurricane, Break Even, Hiroshima Will Burn, Third Strike, Coma Lies, Shinto Katana, Powerslam, and many many more. IHW’s latest effort titled ‘The Gateway’ was mixed in San Diego by ‘Daniel Castleman’ (As I Lay Dying, Winds Of Plague, War Of Ages, Sworn Enemy + Destroy The Runner) and was mastered in Boston by Nick Zampiello (Terror, War Of Ages, Converge, The Red Chord, Isis, The Cave In, Old Man Gloom).
