Josh Fix Biography
He's worked on the high seas as an oil rigger, bounced at a Bourbon Street strip club, successfully eluded the clutches of the authorities at his day job by living secretly in the office filing room, and managed to squeeze in some time to compose and conduct his own full-blown classical symphony. The South African-born transplant (who now calls San Francisco home) gained his first major taste of local- and then national- notoriety in 2004/2005 for an unlikely string of events that began with a serendipitous opening spot with The Who and culminated in a cover story in the San Francisco Chronicle, which brought to light not only an impressive and growing list of famous fans, but also the fact that Fix had actually been secretly living in a Financial District office to save the money to record his buzz-generating demo. 2008 sees the long-awaited release of his self-produced debut album: "Free At Last". This ambitious first outing- which is being compared to everything from Queen and Elton John to Supertramp, ELO, Jellyfish and even Robbie Williams(?)- was mixed by Paul Ebersold (Spacehog, 3 Doors Down) and mastered by the incomparable Greg Calbi (John Lennon, Bob Dylan). The "inexhorborrant" Andy Korn played drums, and also made up that word!
