Krys Justice

Born and raised in Southern California, Krys Justice has lived the ups and downs of life accompanied by a rich soundtrack of his own creation. And with the release of JUGGERNAUT the album in 2009, that soundtrack is now being shared with music fans all over the world. JUGGERNAUT: massive inexorable force that seems to crush everything in its way It’s a fitting album title for a life and musical talent that’s needed the power of a juggernaut to advance and break through. Always fast, strong and focused, Krys grew up in San Diego, California, best known for his athletic abilities and being a soccer all-star. But sports weren’t all he played--bass guitar, saxophone and 10 other instruments plus two summers at the Jazz school at Stanford University were also a big part of who he was. Despite his passion and talent for music, by the time Krys was ready to go out and make his mark on the world, he instead encountered a series of personal challenges and had to focus all his energies on just making his way. "No, things weren't always easy growing up, and I went through a kind of rough time after high school. But I got through it all by focusing on the things I’m most passionate about--my health and music and the support of my friends," Krys explains. As the demands of adult life pushed down on his dreams, Krys found the strength to push back. He began writing songs, composing hooks, and hitting the books and the gym in the evenings while working days. It was then that he met a communications executive who was inspired by Krys' talent needing to be channeled and brought to the world. That was the turning point. Krys was able to return to college and at night began writing, composing and recording ‘Not Stoppin,’ the first single of what would become JUGGERNAUT, his first album. Much like a superhero able to leap a building, outrun a train and stop a bullet, Krys learned he had the power to tell stories through his lyrics, melodies, arrangements and voice. Pulling all of these diverse talents together with his new management team, Krys produced his next song after ‘Not Stoppin,’ which was ‘All Night Long.’ Both songs are club anthems based on the Southern California lifestyle and nightlife. His third song was more introspective for Krys – the stripped-down ‘This Life’ came from a place of uncertainty and confusion about our place in the world, which was very much influenced by life’s challenges thrown at everyone at some point or another. Reaching deeper inside his own psyche, Krys came up with Juggernaut, the album’s title track and a powerful reflection on overcoming personal adversity and believing in yourself. "All my songs are drawn from my own experience, but they're part of who I am and I want my fans to know me," Krys says. "Tracks like All Night Long and Not Stoppin are about being out with my friends, relationships and what happens in the club scene. I really just try to write what I'd like to hear when I go out or turn on the radio. Obviously, This Life and Juggernaut are more personal, and as an artist, it’s these songs that are an outlet for me." Krys grew up listening to pop, hip hop, rock and rap, but the music that moved him most was from the original Motown and classic R&B movement. Always an admirer of the harmonies and hooks of that era’s sound, Krys is inspired by the courage of its stars who broke new ground musically and culturally.
