Krystale Biography
Krystale, a Montrealer with dominican roots, is a 20 year-old with a love for music that is beyond measure and has been fueled since her early childhood by her musical parents. In 2010, she released a FACTOR funded self-titled album, which was produced by Tino Izzo, that proved she is a force not be reckoned with. After graduating from the renowned Vanier College music program and studying with Montreal’s top teachers, she acquired a taste for jazz that is now definitely reflected in her music. Presently, she is experimenting with recording on her own and hopes to release an EP in early 2012. Listeners might be surprised by her R&B, jazz infused sound, which slightly differs from her first album which drifted into the pop/rock realm, but this change reflects exactly where Krystale wants to stand as a musician. She has released 3 new tracks (Eurydice, Caught Up and Thumb Wars) that will be featured on her upcoming EP. With an impressive track record in performing (Canada’s Walk of Fame, St-Jean with Michel Pagliaro, CTV’s Telethon of the Stars), Krystale is very excited to showcase her new material and let audiences rediscover what she’s all about. Krystale’s influences include Fiona Apple, St. Vincent, Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead. She is also heavily inspired by Spanish gypsy music and modern jazz.
