Kyper Biography
Kyper (born Randall S. Kiper in Baton Rouge, LA) enjoyed a brief burst of popularity as a dance pop/rap artist in the early-90s. His 1990 album 'Tic-Tac-Toe' (alternatively known as 'Tic Tac Toe') hit a respectable #79 on the Billboard R&B chart and #82 on the top 200 albums chart. The infectious title track- which mixed together "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from Yes with "Looking for the Perfect Beat" from Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force- was a club anthem. Kyper's sophomore album, 1992's "Countdown to the Year 2000", failed to meet expectations, and he became known as a one-hit-wonder. After being dropped from Atlantic, he independently released several singles and remixes through the 90s and the early 2000s. Kyper continues to perform, and his recent work takes in more breakbeat influences.
