Lady May Feat. Blu Cantrell Biography
Lady May (born Rhonda Robinson) is a mixed-race (part-Asian, part-African American) rapper from New York City's suburbs. Robinson was born in the 1980s and grew up listening to Elton John, Duran Duran and Michael Jackson. At the age of fifteen, Lady May stopped attending high school and became a hip hop dancer in music videos for artists such as: LL Cool J and Jodeci, but was left unsatisfied, eventually turning to rap music. Robinson has had a big MTV hit, Round Up, in 2001 with urban and RnB jazzy singer and label-mate Blu Cantrell. She hooked up with producer Deric "D-dot" Angelettie to record her debut album May Day, which failed to appear as scheduled in August 2002. In 2003, she was prominently featured in the club smash A Toast To Men, written by and featuring pop music sensation Willa Ford. She also appeared in the video. The same year she appeared on DJ Kay Slay: The Streetsweeper, Vol. 1 on a song entitled "Seven Deadly Sins" Featuring fellow female rappers: Vita, Angie Martinez, Duchess, Amil, Sonja Blade and Remy Ma. She was also featured on Rob Jackson's track "Boom Boom Boom".
