Lesser Key Biography
St. Louis, United States (2009 - present) Swirling together bohemian rock/metal and progressive/experimental aesthetics, Lesser Key's sound depends just as much on ambience, tone, and drone as it does intricacy and texture. Lesser Key is not your standard rock fare; mood is the name of the game, cast by complex rhythm and chord structures gridded over acid rushes and waves of feedback, all directed by ethereally soaring and sometimes hauntingly lush vocals. The bands core line up was formed after founding members Justin Hanson (drums), Garrett Smith (keyboards/sound manipulation), and Brett Fanger (guitar) collaborated with an old friend, Andrew Zamudio (vocals). The band announced Bobby Schneck as their final member on bass in summer 2009. March 2009 found the band heading to Weed, California to work with Multi Platinum Producer Sylvia Massy Shivy (System of a Down, Cog, Tool) .The eerie mountain town, rumored to be home of the Lumerians, provided a conducive backdrop to capture their debut E.P. Parallels. The guys teamed up with Tom Baker (NIN, Marilyn Manson, and Deftones) for mastering and Seldon Hunt (Neurosis, Sounds of Animals Fighting, Isis) for artwork to tie it all together for a late 2009 release.
