Lingerbliss Biography
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lingerbliss began in 2002 as a piano and voice duet (Anathema and Lucille VanEyck). By then it received the name of “Obscure Season”, and composition sessions were far away from being productive. In 2003 we put the project on hiatus in order to fully devote ourselves to Decay of Mankind, which consumed too much time and resources as to keep up with both projects at the same time. With D.o.M. we had great experiences. We got to know the local scene, other bands from the genre, people who taught us many important things. We also had the opportunity to play as support act of internationally recognized bands as Anathema, Lacrimosa and Within Temptation. In 2008, Decay of Mankind got dissolved, after almost five years of history. The disharmony between different expectations and visions about the project’s horizon led to its dissolution, and so its members split ways. As soon as this happened, Anathema and I (Lucille) decided to resume our old ideas set aside in 2003. We renamed the band as “Lingerbliss”. In May 2008 we started searching for the rest of the crew we needed to complete the line-up. Ripp took charge of the guitar, followed by Ézan in bass, and Ludwisat behind the drums at last. By November 2008 the line-up was happily closed. "The sound you can hear with the tip of your fingers" We are after music that escapes from mere geometry. That sound for which complex passages and erudite techniques are not enough – or not even necessary. We crave for the sound that opens its wings only when we are authentic, speaking in a language of notes; a sound which is also a symptom of our state of mind (and our state of heart), a sound that entwines with the colours of the walls of the rooms where we spend our nights – sometimes grey, sometimes deep ocean blue. We want each song to be connected to the rest by a single thread. This thread should not be a genre definition like “gothic”, “metal”, “alternative”: it must be a soulful thread; one capable of connecting them to ourselves. This thread must make them all part of the same insight; a free insight, not focused on withered roses or cemeteries. These “eyes” -these songs- must devour the whole world. After all, this world doesn’t need vampires for being twisted; for being the substance of a not-so-happy song.
