Lisa Lee Dark Biography
Welsh born soprano, Lisa Lee Dark, is a rising international opera singer; 2011 is Lisa-Lee's come back year, as she has been away from the opera stage for over two years. This was due to Lisa-Lee completely losing her voice, due to ill health and grief, it has taken Lisa-Lee over two years to retrain herself to sing. Lisa-Lee is no stranger to the music and entertainment industry. Lisa-Lee's recording career began at the age of nine (three weeks before her tenth birthday), she was spotted three years earlier, but due to shyness and a lack of self confidence it took Lisa-Lee three years to build up enough confidence, trust and courage to begin recording. Lisa-Lee began by recording classical and sacred music for film and TV soundtracks; this gradually lead to Lisa-Lee recording dance and alternative music, but that was by accident as she was in the right place at the right time. After spending around five years recording now and again, Lisa-Lee was offered a small deal of her own with a music production company. Chris Jenkins, Lisa-Lee's music producer and manager discovered that Lisa-Lee had the ability to perfectly mimick other chart singers, he said, "It was like Lisa-Lee had the ability to sound like a dozen different singers", so he quickly put this skill to use, he recorded Lisa-Lee copying different dance hits and released these 'copy' recordings on the mid-priced budget music market. These different recordings went on to sell over a million copies all over Europe, although Lisa-Lee was usually uncredited for this work. Lisa-Lee's copying skills is most likely due to the fact that she has an 8 - 9 octave range. Late in 1998 Lisa-Lee signed her first solo recording deal, although she had to wait several months before she could release anything, as the original deal that she signed at 15 still had several months left to run, before it came to an end. In late 1999, Lisa-Lee's solo recording career began, she released four dance albums and one Christian music album, selling over 100,000 records; although these first records were released as free albums with a DJ / producer mixed dance album. The idea behind it was to gradually build up Lisa-Lee's profile by releasing her earlier recordings (copying other singers hits). This should of then lead to Lisa-Lee recording new and original material under her own name, but the record company (VIP international records) went back on their word, they wanted Lisa-Lee to continue 'copying' other hits for at least three more years, but financially Lisa-Lee couldn't afford to do this, so she ended her recording deal with them. In 1999 Lisa-Lee released the dance album, 'The unknown story of Lisa Lee Dark', then in 2000 released the dance album, 'MM:- The story continues', this was followed in 2001 with the dance album, 'Pray (Forever)', and her final dance album released in 2002 was titled, 'Asia', this last release was Lisa-Lee's most successful dance album, selling over 25,000 copies. The final release with VIP international records, was earlier Christian recordings of Lisa-Lee's, this album was titled, 'A journey of faith', it was released in 2002 by mail order only, and all the money raised went to the victims of 9/11 in America. The different thing about this release, was that it was only available on cassette format, but it was Lisa-Lee's biggest success selling just over 40,000 copies. The debut release sold 15,000 copies, and the next two dance albums managed to sell just over 10,000 copies each. Due to the success of the album, 'A journey of faith', Lisa-Lee decided that it was time to return to her musical roots, and go back to working on classical and sacred music projects. In 2004 Lisa-Lee released her debut classical mainstream solo album, 'Breath of life', this album recieved very good reviews, it was classed as a new age, ambient, classical crossover album; but due to problems with the record company the album ended up being a huge commercial flop. There was a second album due to be released in 2005 titled, 'Fragile', but Lisa-Lee lost her confidence and decided to take a break from music. Late in 2006 Lisa-Lee signed her first deal with an opera company / house, this deal also included a recording deal and it was worth £2.5 million. Lisa-Lee used her mimicking skills to train herself to sing opera, her early opera voice was Lisa-Lee copying the great Italian opera dive Renata Scotto. The critics were amazed by how much Lisa-Lee sounded like Renata Scotto, although Lisa-Lee's early opera performances were corporate events, so they were classed as semi professional opera performances; so not a lot of critics got to see and hear Lisa-Lee perform. These semi professional performances were short lived as they only lasted for two years (2007 - 2009). During this time Lisa-Lee performed in four different opera roles, her debut opera performance in 2007 was as Liu in Puccini's opera, 'Turandot', then later in 2007 Lisa-Lee played the lead role in Puccini's, 'Sr. Angelica'. Then in 2008 and 2009 Lisa-Lee played the lead role in another Puccini opera, 'Madama Butterfly', also in 2008 Lisa-Lee performed in her first Verdi opera, 'Nabucco', with Lisa-Lee playing the role of Abigail. In 2009 Lisa-Lee was due to perform the leading role in Puccini's opera, 'Tosca', but the people booking the event had Lisa-Lee sacked because they said that she was too fat and not pretty enough! Although Lisa-Lee wouldn't of been able to perform in that role as earlier on she had damaged and completely lost her voice during a performance of Madama Butterfly; it would take Lisa-Lee over two years to rebuild her voice. 2011 is Lisa-Lee's come back year, she was due to return to the stage in April, to perform in two requiems at Easter time, but Lisa-Lee had to pull out as she was suffering with very high blood pressure; she had managed to build her voice back up, but now she had to get herself in better physical shape and lose weight. Lisa-Lee's return to the stage happened in late 2011, meaning it took Lisa-Lee two and a half years to recover and return to work; although Lisa-Lee did take part in a one off concert in early April; this performance was recorded and used as part of her new opera album. Lisa-Lee has also had minor / brief success in the acting world; she accidently starred in a European advert when she was 12, she was once again in the right place at the right time; she also recorded english language voice overs on several European low budget horror films; this gave Lisa-Lee the opportunity to do very minor voice overs on two Hollywood movies, although Lisa-Lee was either not credited for this work or she had to use ficticious names; this was due to the fact that Lisa-Lee couldn't get any work in this area due to her medical condition and her looks! Although Lisa-Lee is becoming known in her own right as an opera singer; she is also known for being related to two very famous women, her great great great great aunt was the victorian opera singer, 'Adelina Patti' (1843 - 1919); and Lisa-Lee's God-mother and great great aunt was the Hollywood legend, 'Bette Davis' (1908 - 1989). Lisa-Lee is also known for being born with the rare inter-sex medical condition, 'Congenital adrenal hyperplasia' (CAH), to find out the full details of this condition and how it hugely affected Lisa-Lee's life, just 'google' her name. Lisa-Lee is one of lifes fighters and survivors, she has survived all sorts of huge difficulties, her medical condition, neglect, a lack of love, being extremely badly bullied and even abuse from paedophiles. Lisa-Lee is now working with a new small opera group, who travel all around the world staging different operas or classical concerts in local venues, she is also regularly working with the 'New Era' choir and orchestra. In late 2011 Lisa-Lee begins touring Europe off and on for several months, performing in two different requiems; Lisa-Lee will be performing the soprano role in Donizetti's requiem, but she is singing the mezzo-soprano role in Verdi's requiem. This tour will take Lisa-Lee into eight European countries, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. Lisa Lee Dark also releases her new self titled album in 2011, part of this album is from Lisa-Lee's live performance concert, and part of it is Lisa-Lee singing with five harpists, plus there is a bonus Wagner song. This album showcases Lisa-Lee's new, much stronger voice.
