Lorrie Anne Matthews Biography
It’s hard to define Lorrie Anne Matthews’ style of Country music. Her songwriting roots are strongly anchored in true Nashville tradition, but musical influences of Rock, Soul, Pop, Blues and Dance give her listeners a bright, modernized twist on classic Country storytelling. Matthews is a singer-songwriter, actress and comedian born in Houston, Texas and raised outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Her summers were spent in Detroit with her grandmother, a country music lover who introduced her to Charley Pride, Buck Owens and Dolly Parton, At age five she asked for a guitar so she could “play” along with her favorite artist. She moved to Athens to attend the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in Consumer Journalism. Matthews first time in a recording studio was by chance. While working as a marketing executive, a client who liked her speaking voice, requested her to be the featured talent of their latest advertising campaign. The commercials were a success and led to more opportunities including radio and television commercials, singing jingles, theater work, appearances in feature films and a guest hosting gig on a country music/lifestyle themed program. With life experiences she wanted to write about and desire to perform original music Matthews went into the studio with her best friends from college producers and songwriters Owens-Hall and Baseilici. She is currently working on her self-released debut album, titled LA LA LAND which is scheduled for a release date of 1.11.11.
