Lunic Biography
Lunic is an indie rock band from New York City & Albany, NY formed by singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and poet Kaitee Page. Born and raised in Albany, NY, Page traveled the world before starting Lunic in London, UK in early 2008. A classically trained violist and a self-taught pianist, songwriting was a natural progression for Page, whose music reflects the sounds of each city in which she has lived: Nashville, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, & London. In particular the music of the English, Alt/Rock band Muse inspired her to transform poetry into song. Page also cites her other main influences as Placebo, Paramore, Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kate Nash. Lunic's highly-anticipated debut album, Lovethief, was released May 14th, 2009 worldwide. Lovethief was funded entirely by Lunic fans around the world via crowd-sourcing website, Sellaband.com. Lovethief was produced & mixed by Peter Denenberg (Spin Doctors, Deep Purple) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Muse, Paramore). Lunic released an EP called Splinter independently in the US & the UK in June 2008. A collection of 10 demo songs from 2006/2007 was released digitally in October 2008. The album is called Skeletons due to the fact that the recordings remain unfinished. Lunic gained national recognition for pioneering the fan-funded album and was interviewed by ABC's Good Morning America and the New York Times respectively. Since the release of Lovethief, Lunic's music has been played on 100+ radio stations across America and Canada. In 2009, Lunic opened for Creed at SPAC and headlined LarkFest with Moby in Albany, NY. Lunic was chosen by Channel 103.1 as a Top 6 Finalist in the station's Most Original Band Contest and the first single from Lovethief, "Him" was nominated for Rock Single of the Year by the LA Music Awards. "Him" was also chosen as a Top 3 Finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Rock Category, the GINA For Missing Persons Songwriter Contest and Mike Pinder's (Moody Blues) Songwars Songwriting Competition. The music of Lunic is often compared to that of Paramore, Metric, Lights, Kate Nash, Evanescence, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Uh Huh Her and Aimee Mann. Lunic has shared the stage with artists such as Moby, Creed, Company of Thieves, dredg, Bell X1, Meiko, & Hypernova. Page also played violin, piano, & back-up vocals in various rock bands from 2003-2006, most notably the Australian pop rock band Porcelain (Universal Records).
