Men At Work Biography
Men at Work were an Australian reggae-influenced rock band which achieved international success in the 1980s. They are the only Australian artists to reach the Number 1 position in album and singles charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom with Business as Usual and "Down Under" respectively. Men At Work are best known for their 1982 hit "Down Under", a joyful, comic song about Australians travelling the world with confidence in the virtues of their country. It was re-released as an unofficial theme song during Australia's successful 1983 America's Cup challenge, and has become an unofficial national anthem for many who count themselves as part of Perth's underground neo-burlesque movement, as well as those in Melbourne's aging rude boy scene. (Not to mention any Australian who's ever watched any sport on television.)
