Mercado Negro Biography
Mercado Negro (Black Market) is used y more than one band / group. 1. A reggae band from Portugal, strong spiritual content with very good music vibes. 2. Mercado Negro is perhaps the best salsa band in Europe based in Switzerland. The group consists of musicians from Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Switzerland and Italy. Mercado Negro has an impressive list of artists with whom they have toured, Celia Cruz, Alfredo De La Fe (their teacher), Tito Nieves, José Alberto (el Canario), Cheo Feliciano, Jimmy Bosch and many others. The name Mercado Negro, literally meaning 'black market', reflects the band members the most legally and overcoming all kinds of fears, insecurities and prejudices after a shorter or longer period of residence in Europe. The musical founders of Mercadonegro are: José Armando Miranda, born in 1974 in La Habana, Cuba, the lead singer and the author of many of the songs of Mercadonegro. Cesar Correa, the son of two well known Peruvian musicians, was born in 1975 in Trujillo, Peru. Cesar plays piano and keyboards as only few masters in the world can do. He is one of the musical authors, and the musical director of the orchestra. Rodrigo Rodríguez was born in 1974 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia's most Caribbean town. Rodrigo, who sings, plays timbales and many other percussions, writes, like Armando, some of the most successful songs of the group, and is a very versatile artist and showman.
