AC/DC drummer has drug conviction overturned

Phil Rudd, drummer for AC/DC, has had his recent conviction for marijuana possession overturned in New Zealand.

Rudd was fined in December after marijuana was found on his houseboat in Tauranga, New Zealand. While the fine was small, Phil was concerned that having the charge on his record would make it hard or impossible for him to enter some countries while on tour.

Judge Alayne Wills agreed with Rudd's lawyer contention that making it hard for Rudd to tour could adversely affect others who depended on him and overturned the sentence; however, she ordered Rudd to pay $1,500 in legal and court fees, much higher than his original fine of $100.

AC/DC's tour in 2010 sold $177 million worth of tickets, making it the second biggest tour of the year.
