AC/DC will have the number one album in the USA this week after selling 780,000 units.
'Black Ice' is the first AC/DC album to ever debut at number one in the USA. The only AC/DC album to top the US chart prior to this was 'For Those About To Rock' in 1981.
The next highest charting albums for the band are 1990's 'The Razor's Edge' (2), 1976's 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' (3), 1980's 'Back In Black' and 1995's 'Ballbreaker'(4), 2000's 'Ballbreaker' (7).
No other AC/DC album has cracked the US top 10.
It is interesting to not the relatively low peak position of 'Back In Black' on the US chart. Despite never going to number one in America, the album has become the 5th biggest selling album on all-time in the USA after Eagles 'Their Greatest Hits', Michael Jackson 'Thriller', Led Zeppelin 'IV' and Pink Floyd 'The Wall'.
2.5 million copies of 'Black Ice' were shipped to Wal-Mart in the USA.
AC/DC started their 'Black Ice' world tour last night in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
