Alanis Morissette has gone the political route with her new record, Today, writing it for California candidate Marianne Williamson who is trying to take the open spot vacated by Henry Waxman.
Williamson is a spiritual teacher, author and speaker who has written four best sellers and is involved with such organizations as Project Angel Food which provides meals-on-wheels to those suffering from Aids. She has also started a campaign to have a new United States Department of Peace established.
Morissette was at a seminar being put on by Williamson when another audience member suggest she write a song. Today has now become Williamson's official campaign song who said "…Alanis Morissette has produced a masterpiece. I have never heard a song more powerfully describe this moment in our history, or more lovingly call forth our generation's genius from the ashes of our pain. With her inimitable musical alchemy, Alanis has provided an anthem for our audacious quest to get America back on track."
The last Alanis Morissette album was 'Havoc and Bright Lights' in 2012.
