Albert Hammond Jr. has has confirmed that another Strokes album is in the pipeline and could be due some time in 2015.
Speaking to the NME, Albert said that although he couldn't confirm anything specifically, he could say that the band wanted to record a new album and that they had set a date for 2015. He also stated that their only confirmed show at The Governor's Ball would be a platform from which to launch the new material.
"I imagine there'll be Strokes activity throughout the year and then hopefully - maybe - an album in the new year," he told the magazine. "That's the dream. Am I saying that's what's happening? No. But I'm saying that's definitely, probably, in everybody's minds. We're definitely not a band that would play these shows just to randomly play them."
This follows on from comments made by front man Julian Casablancas that the successor to 2013's Comedown Machine would be worked on in the near future. Speaking to Chilean magazine Cooperativa he said that they remained friends and were getting ready to record something new.
"I want to be friends with The Strokes," he told Cooperativa. "We are friends, you know what I mean? Just to make it work – from just sitting down and having coffee and hanging out to being on-stage and performing as a unit. Just have it all be positive friend vibes. That's the thing that brings us together, and then we do some Strokes stuff, too."
