BASEBALL star Alex Rodriguez has denied any romance between him and Madonna.
The New York Yankee spoke for the first time today about his relationship with the Material Girl and said: "We're friends - that's it."
Speaking to People magazine, the 33-year-old also denied the rumours that he and the 50-year-old singer, who recently divorced director Guy Ritchie, 40, had been accompanying her on tour.
He said: "I can tell you this. I have never been on a plane with her.
"I've been to two [of her] concerts, yet I've read that I went to 20. I've also read that we were buying an apartment together. That is absolutely ridiculous and not true."
"You have to have a sense of humor when it comes to this stuff. If I answered every rumour we'd be here for three weeks."
He said the only thing he and Madonna had in common was their desire to help children.
He said he's become a supporter of her Raising Malawi charity but initially knew nothing about it.
After being invited to one of the fundraisers, he said: "I was very moved by the whole thing. I saw the documentary and it was very inspiring and informative. I saw an opportunity to help and I jumped at that.
"I have a lot of respect for her. She's very committed to making the world a better place. She's had an amazing career, and we're friends. That's it."
