ALI CAMPBELL has revealed that he will never sing with his former band again.
The ex-UB40 frontman said he had been "demonised" by the remaining members after he decided to quit the reggae group last January.
Speaking to the Sun, he said: "The band have been claiming I left because I was greedy and because I wanted to pursue a solo career. But that's not the case at all. I released solo records while I was with UB40 and nobody ever had any problem with that.
"I will never again play with the remaining members of UB40 while I live and breathe."
Campbell also revealed that problems began when he disagreed with the band's decision to employ a new management team, and that he was left frustrated when he was shut out of financial matters.
He said: "That's when my so-called brothers started turning on me. The band's allegiance was to the management and they made that very clear."
Campbell formed UB40 with brother Robin and friends over thirty years ago. His older brother Duncan stepped into replace him following his departure.
He said the split had "torn our family apart",and added: "At my granny's funeral my brothers couldn't even look me in the face. I wanted some kind of interaction, a punch up, anything, but they sat staring at their laps."
