The legendary 'School's Out' rocker ' real name Vincent Furnier - is famed for his skills with a driver and a nine iron in his leisure time, but his onstage alter ego can't stand the sport.
He told BANG Showbiz: "Alice hates golf. Alice the character hates golf. I love golf but he hates it. That's why I'll never do a golf DVD - nobody wants to see me play golf, they want to see Alice play golf, but he hates it."
The singer believes by separating his on stage and off stage personas he has been able to extend his career, as many of his friends who have tried to live the rock star life to the fullest have tragically died along the way.
He added: "It's hard to live your image off stage. Jim Morrison tried to be Jim Morrison all the time, Keith Moon tried to be Keith Moon all the time and you can't possibly live that character off stage or it will kill you.
"I love playing Alice, there's nothing more fun than playing Alice, but when the audience isn't there there's really no need for him to be."
Earlier this week, Alice was presented with the Kerrang! Icon prize at
The Kerrang! Awards 2011 ' sponsored by Relentless energy drink ' and said his wife is sick of him getting so many accolades.
He said: "I've got a room at home where I keep all my awards ' my wife's always saying to me not to bring any more home ' most of them are for golf now, though!"
