Alkaline Trio salute Ramone

For the fourth year, punk icon Joey Ramone will be remembered at the Life's a Gas birthday bash. The celebration of the Ramones frontman will feature punks old and new, including the Alkaline Trio, the Supersuckers, the Dickies, the Slashtones, Bebe Buell and the Sic Fucks.

Also on the bill for the May 19th event at New York City's Irving Plaza will be Friends of Joey Ramone, an all-star troupe of punk luminaries including former bandmates Marky Ramone and Tommy Ramone, Television's Richard Lloyd, the Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome and Jeff Magnum, the Dictators' Andy Shernoff, the Heartbreakers' Walture Lure along with Al Maddy (who played on Ramone's 2001 solo album) and Ramone's brother Mickey Leigh.

Leigh co-founded the event with Charlotte Lesher, his and Ramone's mother, to mark what would have been Ramone's forty-ninth birthday in May 2001; he died of lymphoma on April 15th of that year. All proceeds from Life's a Gas will benefit the Lymphoma Foundation. A silent auction will also be held to raise money for the foundation.
