Amanda Bynes reconnects with parents

Amanda Bynes has reconnected with her family.

The 27-year-old actress - who has sparked concern for her welfare in recent months after a displaying erratic behaviour - allegedly reached out to her worried parents, Lynne and Rick, this week, months after cutting off all contact with them.

A source told gossip website RadarOnline.com: 'Amanda reconnected with her parents this week and it was a really positive talk on both ends.

'Her parents are good people who are genuinely concerned for her. And Amanda misses them, so she finally called them up.'

The 'Easy A' star refused to move back to Los Angeles in March so her family could keep a closer eye on her but has now told them they can come to visit her in New York to see that she is doing okay.

The insider said: 'The last place Amanda wants to be is Los Angeles. She likes New York and doesn't want to leave.

'But Amanda's parents really want to see her so they're thinking of flying out to New York as early as next week.

'Amanda is totally acting odd, but she's not crazy at all like people are making her out to be.

'She's just going through a hard time in her life and maybe not coping with it like she should be.'

Amanda's family previously indicated that they believed her strange behaviour was merely a 'cry for help' but felt powerless as she refused to allow them to help her.

The actress, who recently claimed she is suffering from an eating disorder and wants to weigh 100 pounds, recently started posting raunchy tweets and photographs of herself online.

She settled two hit-and-run cases after reaching a civil compromise with her victims, saving herself from a potential 12 months in jail in December.

Along with her legal troubles, she was involved in two bizarre episodes in September 2012, locking herself in a store changing room for nearly two hours and refusing to come out and stripping off during a gym class.
