In a virtual life that has already raised eyebrows — from sexually charged flirting with rapper Drake to unpredictable sensitivity about which photos of her are used by media outlets — former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes upped the ante this week with a series of provocative photos and beefs that drew concern from fans and friends alike.
Bynes kicked the week off by posting a new series of selfies of her half-shaved head, seemingly taken at a gym, followed by a sudden change of heart about Drizzy, who she'd previously wished would "murder" her private parts.
On Tuesday, she took a veiled shot at the rapper, writing that she was "loving" his "far apart eyes." Just a short time later, Bynes uploaded a side-by-side image of herself and the MC with the message "@drakes kinda ugly huh?"
Bynes, 27, who appears to be taking her fashion cues from hardcore femcee Blac Chyna, threw a couple more shots at the Young Money star before moving on to a series of provocative bathroom shots in which she was wearing just a bra and leggings. "About to put on makeup!" she wrote on Wednesday. "I weigh 135, I've gained weight! I need to [be] 100 lbs.!"
That series of three lingerie snaps drew more than 700,000 views, just under the total for the topless photos she uploaded on Thursday with her hands covering her ample assets. What followed was a series of topless images in which Bynes' breasts were barely covered by a blonde wig and she wore nothing else but underwear and ripped stockings.
The latter may have been what led to an unexpected Twitter war with former Playboy Playmate and VH1 star Jenny McCarthy, who claimed in a (since deleted) tweet, "Police are at @AmandaBynes house. I hope they get her help. Enough of this circus. She needs help."
McCarthy said that call for help was inspired by a series of posts from a Hollywood publicist and purported friend of the actress who retired from the business three years ago, Jonathan Jaxson. "I just spoke to @AmandaBynes and she is sooo messed up on drugs and please @NY_POLICE find her and help her!" Jaxson tweeted.
Bynes was not pleased with the attempted virtual intervention, shooting back, "@JennyMcCarthy you're ugly! Police weren't at my house old lady! Shut the f--- up!" She followed that with "@jennymccarthy I need help! What are u talking about? Aren't you 50 years old? I'm 27, u look 80 compared to me! Why are you talking about me?" (Those tweets have also since been deleted.)
The two made up online, but concern about Bynes didn't let up after she participated in a rare on-the-record interview with tabloid In Touch Weekly this week. "I have no clue [why people say I'm insane]," she reportedly told the magazine. "Every time I've heard it, it came from an ugly person's mouth, so I don't care. ... The only ones lying about me having a mental illness are people I don't talk to."
The actress, who said she only has "hot friends," also brushed off any suggestions that she's struggling with substance abuse issues, claiming to the magazine that she's allergic to alcohol, doesn't smoke pot and only indulges in one vice: tobacco. In early April she tweeted that she suffers from an eating disorder that makes it hard for her to stay thin, and implored media outlets to only use the photos she tweets if they are going to write about her.
