Amber Rose reportedly knew her marriage was in trouble, but expected to "work on things" at some point.
Last week the 30-year-old model filed for divorce from Wiz Khalifa, 27, following just over a year of marriage. Rumours quickly surfaced the hip-hop star had been unfaithful, with more speculation following they had both cheated. Amber used Twitter to slam those claims, although she appeared to accuse her estranged husband of playing away.
Over the weekend TMZ suggested the marriage was already over when Wiz reportedly went with someone else, but Amber's good friend Peter Rosenberg has dismissed that.
"I think that's an easy way to spin it now," he told Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning.
"I believe from my relationship with Amber, that she knew they had problems, she knew he wasn't happy - she wasn't happy either - but she was also like, 'He's touring, he's going through a lot, and at some point we're going to work on this again.' It's a marriage."
Peter asserted that it's "just not true" that the union was over, although Amber had been open about their problems during conversations with his wife.
The star also alleged that Amber walked in on her husband being unfaithful, claiming he was with twin sisters. He also insisted the rapper wasn't at a new house he had acquired after they split, rather it was a home he'd always had and that Amber was familiar with, and had a key to.
After she filed for divorce, Amber faced speculation she had got too close to her new manager Nick Cannon, who split from his wife Mariah Carey earlier this year. There is no proof of this, and Peter can't believe people think it could be true.
"You all can say what you want about Amber Rose. Amber Rose is a smart-ass, savvy businesswoman who, before any of this happened, she was hustling," he said. "She signed with Incredible, Nick Cannon's company. She would never then sleep with the dude that she signed with."
Amber and Wiz are the parents of 19-month-old son Sebastian, known as Bash.
