Be gentle, Gleeks, it's Jessica Sanchez's first time!
The season 11 "American Idol" runner-up is set to appear on "Glee" this season, and when MTV News hit the set of her first music video last week, she took a break to chat with us about her upcoming acting debut.
"As far as 'Glee,' I have no script yet," the 17-year-old singer said. "I'll be taping very, very soon. I got a call from them, like, a couple days ago, very, very excited. I've been practicing my acting. It's like a whole new element for me. I've never acted before, so I mean, it's just like dancing; it's unexpected. So we'll see how I do."
As of last week, Sanchez said she still had no details about her character, but with the May 9 season finale fast approaching, we should see the singer-turned-actress soon.
"It's an opportunity, and I love to take challenges. I love to do that stuff," she said. "I want to play somebody else and see how that feels, but I haven't gotten my script yet or know who I'm going to be playing, but I'm very, very excited."
Will a woman win "American Idol" this year? We think so.
MTV News previously reported that Sanchez was slated for a multi-episode arc with the McKinley High gang in season four.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has been pretty hush-hush about her role, but he did share a tidbit with The Manila Bulletin. "I would imagine she is going to be the big voice star of another competing choir who gives them a run for their money," Murphy told the newspaper in her mom's native Philippines.
