American Idol reject Pia Toscano grilled about her rumoured new romance

The stunning brunette, who was knocked out of the TV talent contest in last week's shock elimination, is apparently dating hunky Mark Ballas.

But she remained tight-lipped during her appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday.

As the popular talk show host quizzed her over the relationship, she laughed: 'I'm really just focusing right now on my music.

'I've just met him, he's a very sweet guy. We're just friends.'

Toscano, who is rumoured to have been offered a record deal since exiting the prime-time show, revealed it had been her fifth time trying out.

Despite the blow, the 22-year-old New Yorker says she's determined not to give up on her lifelong dream of being a recording artist.

'It's something I'm definitely going to work on, I have it in me.'

Pia's elimination had come as a bolt from the blue and left American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez in tears.
