Amos Lee - the hotlyâ€"tipped new American singer-songwriter - plays a UK headlining show at London's Bush Hall on Monday 24th January.
The gig comes as the prelude to the launch of Lee's eponymously-titled first album, which is released by Blue Note on Monday 21st February.
Lee first came to attention when he toured Europe supporting Norah Jones last year. Indeed, among the guest artists on Lee's album are Jones - who contributes piano and backing vocals - and her songwriting / musician partner Lee Alexander, who has also produced the record.
Amos Lee takes his inspiration from such soul greats as Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers as well as folk legends John Prine and Dave Van Ronk. The “folk†side is reflected in his nimble acoustic guitar playing and the intimacy of his live performances while the “soul†comes through in the lyrics and in what his hometown newspaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, describes as “raw, unedited emotion.â€
The eleven tracks on Amos Lee all composed by Amos, were produced by Alexander in New York City during July 2004 â€" three months after the two played through Europe on the Norah Jones tour. Lee Has also opened for such artists as Bob Dylan, BB King and Mose Allison.
A self-released EP with five of his original songs made Amos “one of the area's most-talked-about emerging talents†according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, and was followed by a second, seven-song disc. Both sold out on their initial pressings.document.write(unescape("
