They've made a huge mistake.
After nine years of marriage, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett have confirmed that they are filing for divorce. A representative told Us Weekly that the parents of Archie, 3, and Abel, 2, have decided to call it quits. "It's very amicable," the rep said.
Hopefully, that amicability means that the couple will continue to have a great relationship onscreen as well as off. We've gotten used to seeing the pair pop up in each other's work, be it Poehler as Wife of G.O.B. on "Arrested Development" or Arnett as Chris in "Parks and Recreation." Their most famous onscreen pairing is arguably as the Van Waldenbergs in "Blades of Glory," but they also appeared together in "Monsters vs. Aliens," "On Broadway," "Spring Breakdown" and "Horton Hears a Who!"
With Arnett now returning to the model home in the upcoming fourth season of "Arrested Development," many fans have hoped that Poehler would reprise her role as his unwanted wife. Sure, the characters divorced in season two, but there's still a chance she could return — and that we could finally find out what her actual name is.
Poehler and Arnett are both staples of the NBC comedy block. Poehler stars as Leslie Knope on "Parks and Recreation" while Arnett stars opposite Christina Applegate in "Up All Night." Both comedians are currently up for Emmys: Poehler for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in "Parks and Recreation," and Arnett for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in "30 Rock."
This is the first marriage for Poehler and second for Arnett, who was married to Penelope Ann Miller for a year in 1994.
For Arnett, it had apparently been love at first sight with Poehler.
"The first time I saw her onstage, I said, 'I'm gonna marry that girl,' " he told People in 2009.
Do you think we'll continue to see Poehler/Arnett collaborations despite the split? Let us know in the comments.
