Andy Bell of Erasure is not abandoning Vince Clarke. He just needs something to do while Clarke becomes a dad.
Bell is putting out a solo album October fourth called "Electric Blue." He says he wrote a few songs with two DJ's who supported Erasure on tour, and they got so many songs together he decided to release them. He says while Clarke's wife is off having their first child, he thought he'd work on music for being "a disco dance diva or something." He says Clarke is his songwriting partner and always will be. In fact, they have two albums in the works. One is an acoustic reworking of their songs. The other, according to Clarke, is a reworking of nursery rhymes with Clarke writing music and Bell singing or narrating them. Clarke admits it's not really music for children, and Bell says, "It's really more for babysitters to, like, scare the kids to go to bed."document.write(unescape("
