Actress Angela Lansbury will forever be etched in our hearts as the star of "Murder, She Wrote."
But the remake is not sitting well with her.
NBC is considering a revival of the long-running mystery series Murder, She Wrote, with Academy Award-winning actor Octavia Spencer stepping into Angela Lansbury's shoes as the lead.
The reboot, reported by Deadline, will be produced by Alexandra Cunningham and David Janollari, with Cunningham writing the pilot. NBC later confirmed to EW that it had ordered a pilot, described as a "reimagining" of the original CBS series, which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996 and spawned several standalone TV movies.
Lansbury is calling NBC's Octavia Spencer-led remake of her classic '80s-'90s detective drama "a mistake," as per a new interview with the Associated Press.
"I wish her well, but I wish it wasn't in Murder, She Wrote," said Lansbury, 88, who nonetheless called herself a fan of Spencer's. Lansbury, who is receiving an honorary Oscar later this week, said Murder was "the greatest doorway to the world" for her, professionally and otherwise.
