After being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for a second time, Anna Calvi is looking to the future - speaking about the honour of supporting Morrissey on his upcoming European tour.
We spoke to the Domino-signed chanteuse on the red carpet of the announcement of her stunning second album One Breath being nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize. Looking ahead to her future touring plans, Calvi spoke of her delight at being chosen to support Morrissey on his upcoming European dates - incluing The O2 Arena in London.
"I've not met him, but I think he or his people asked for me in some way so I feel very honoured," Calvi explained. "I'm slighty scared but in a good way. I've been a huge fan of The Smiths and his solo stuff is just great, so it should be really interesting."
Speaking of being nominated for the Mercury Prize Calvi added: "It feels surreal and very exciting to be nominated for the second time. I was totally not expecting it, so I feel very happy."
She continued: "I just try to make music that feels honest to me, and to make passionate music and to not be afraid to push myself when I feel I should. I just feel lucky that it's been appreciated in some way."
